3 Tips for Social Distancing in an Apartment Complex

social distancing

social distancing

More than ever, during the pandemic as virus cases are getting out of control, we must take precautions and practice social distancing. While this may seem like an easy task to do, you may be wondering how you can social distance when you live in an apartment community.

Read on for some easy tips for social distancing in an apartment community.

1. Visit Shared Spaces Earlier or Later

At this time, shared spaces like the fitness center and shared laundry facilities, and community office can get pretty busy throughout the day.

To avoid coming in contact with too many people, we recommend visiting the shared space later in the evening or early in the day.

And when it comes to speaking with the office, call or send an email instead of visiting in person. This will help you implement social distancing measures while having your problem resolved by staff.

2. Take Advantage of Online Payments

Most of us have stuck to making our monthly rent payments by dropping a check or money order off in the office mailbox. And while this was suitable before the pandemic, this method of paying rent may no longer work for some.

Instead, to further promote social distancing, take advantage of online rent payments. You can set yourself up for an auto draft to ensure you never make a late payment, and you don’t have to worry about walking to the office to drop your payment off.

3. Hold Off on Maintenance Requests

We all understand that there will be emergency situations when we need maintenance to come to our apartment to fix things like a burst pipe or a leaking air conditioning unit. But, if possible, avoid making maintenance requests during this time.

This will reduce the likelihood that maintenance needs to enter your apartment at any time. If it’s unavoidable for them to visit your apartment, ensure that you stay six feet away from them as their working in your issue to keep you both safe. Once they’ve let, take some time to sanitize any area of your apartment they were in, ensuring no germs were left behind.

Social Distancing: Safely Keeping Your Distance

When it comes to social distancing in apartment communities, there are many ways that you can achieve this without becoming a complete hermit. Until the number of COVID-19 cases is under control, you’re going to want to practice social distancing whenever you leave the safety of your home. And sometimes within your home.

Since we know you’ve got time on your hands, you should use it to check out some of the other articles. Or if you’re looking for your next home, don’t hesitate to contact Willow Creek Apartments.

Here at Willow Creek, we’re taking all the steps we can to ensure our current and future residents’ safety.

Lakeridge Pool Opening Soon!

We are excited to announce that, barring a change in the governor’s Back on Track Indiana plan or some unforeseen predicament, we plan to open the Lakeridge pool this 4th of July Weekend! Pool hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Mill Run pool will be under construction this summer and, unfortunately, will not be open for the pool season. Because we will only have one pool available this summer, we regret that all guest privileges will be revoked so that Willow Creek Crossing Apartment residents are able to use and enjoy this amenity.

S.W.O.R.N. Protection Services will be monitoring the pool on weekends and holidays and for a few hours each weekday evening. Please cooperate with security officers and present your Willow Creek Crossing ID when asked. (Identification cards may be issued to residents who are at least 14 years of age).

In order to enhance safety and discourage trespassers, a combination lock is installed at the gate. You will need to stop by the office to receive the code and sign a pool addendum; do not forget to call ahead to schedule your appointment to sign the addendum. PLEASE, do not give out the combination to other residents and do not let anyone in the pool who does not have a Willow Creek ID. If we find the code has been compromised, the combination will be changed, and you will need to return to the office to get the new code.

Very Important Pool Rules to Remember:

  • You must have your Willow Creek Crossing I.D. card with you, in addition to the gate code, to gain entry into the pool.
  • All persons under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult that is at least 18 years of age. In other words, kids who are age 14 to 17 may swim without an adult, but they may not be responsible for younger kids. If you have an adult summertime babysitter, please make arrangements for your babysitter to get an ID.
  • All swimmers must wear bathing suits. Street clothes are not permitted, per Board of Health rules. This includes t-shirts and shorts over top of bathing suits.

Thank you all for your patience during this time. We’re excited to be able to open the pool for you in time for the holiday weekend!

Important COVID-19 Policies & Procedures Update

COVID-19 update May 2020

COVID-19 update May 2020

On Friday, May 1, 2020, Indiana Governor Holcomb announced a 5-stage plan with the aim of slowly decreasing restrictions and beginning to open businesses that have been closed since the shelter in place order was issued on March 23, 2020. The goal of the plan is to not jump right back in and open everything how it was but to slowly get back to how things were before. For full details of the governor’s plan, you can visit www.backontrack.in.gov.

At this time, Willow Creek Crossing office and maintenance will begin to decrease some of the restrictions that were implemented when the shelter in place order was issued. Please read below for how we plan to begin to re-open while still making every effort to minimize everyone’s exposure to potential germs:

  • Beginning May 4, 2020, maintenance will resume completing all types of work orders that are called into the office, whether it is an emergency or not. As a precaution, they will still be wearing their respirators and gloves while in your apartment. We will also still be asking if you have been sick or had a fever in the last two weeks, been exposed to anyone who has been sick or had a fever in the last two weeks, or if you have traveled anywhere in the last two weeks as a precaution.
  • Beginning May 4, 2020, the office will begin seeing residents by appointment only so that we are able to sanitize in between appointments for your safety and ours. The outside door to the building will be locked; please ring the doorbell to the left of the door when you arrive. We will have hand sanitizer available for you to use and we will seat you at one of the tables in the clubhouse; we ask that you do not come into the leasing office as we are keeping that for employees only for the time being. You must either call or e-mail prior to coming to the office and schedule your appointment.

Office and maintenance hours will be as follows:

Office hours: May 4th to May 17th Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Beginning May 18th Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Maintenance hours: May 4th to May 17th Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Beginning May 18th Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • There will be no semi-annual apartment inspections for May.
  • The fitness center will continue to be closed for May.
  • The swimming pools will be closed for the month of May. We hope to open in June depending on what the Board of Health recommends. The Mill Run pool will be closed for the season as it is going to be replaced this summer; however, we still hope to open the Lakeridge pool.

If you have been unable to work because of the COVID-19 virus, please contact the office so that we can make a payment arrangement with you. You will need to provide us with either a letter from your employer that you have been laid off or proof that you have filed for unemployment. We understand that this has been a difficult situation that has affected many of our residents and we want to do what we can to help.

We appreciate the patience and understanding that our residents have shown during this uncertain time and we can not thank you enough. We also appreciate how so many have come together and reached out to their fellow neighbors to check in with each other to make sure everyone is staying healthy and safe! If you have any questions, please call us at 260-747-7000 or e-mail us at apartments@willowcreekcrossing.net. We will keep you posted if there are any changes that need to be made to the new operating procedures listed above.

willow creek crossing apartments

willow creek crossing apartmentsKids that spend more than a couple of hours in front of the TV every day are over twice as likely to be obese than those who have limited screen time. But during the summer, it can be hard to find things for your kids to do. Enter Willow Creek Crossing Apartments. We have so many options for family fun activities that your kids won’t have time for TV!

Keep reading to find out more about what we have to offer.

Go Swimming

We have not one but two swimming pools! Spend some time splashing around our swimming pools on hot Summer days. Swimming is a fun and physical way to beat the heat that your whole family can enjoy.

If you missed our Open House, you can still come by the office any time to pick up a pool pass.

Play Tennis

Kids of any age can enjoy playing a few games of tennis, even if they spend more time chasing the ball than they do hitting it. Bring your tennis racquets to one of our tennis courts for an afternoon of friendly competition with your family. It’s one of the many free family activities in Fort Wayne and it’s just for our residents.

Hit Up the Playground

The ground is lava!

Visiting our playground is a great way to get your kids out of the house and into their imaginations. They can climb, slide, and swing their way into a great day while you sit back and just enjoy the great outdoors… or maybe join in too!

Have a Picnic

We have several grills that our residents can use, so why not make your next meal a BBQ? Don’t forget to bring some ice cold lemonade and you’ll have a delicious and free family outing.

Take a Walk

Our apartments are pet-friendly in more than one way. We provide plenty of room around our facilities to take your dogs for a walk with the whole family. You’d be surprised as to just how much fun you can have while going on a walk with your family. You may even meet some of your neighbors along the way, turning a simple outing into a social event.

Play Frisbee

Something else you can do in our park is play Frisbee. There’s more than enough space to get a game going, and all you need is a Frisbee and a friend or two.

If flying discs aren’t your thing, you can also bring a soccer ball, football, or really any ball and get a game going. Even if you’re just playing a game of catch, the physical activity will be good for you and your kids.

Things to Do Near Willow Creek Crossing Apartments

If you want to go outside of our community to meet new people, then why not head over to Pawster Park or Foster Park. They’re both close to Willow Creek Crossing Apartments so you won’t need to go far to enjoy a day at the park.

There’s so much fun to be had at Willow Creek Crossing Apartments! Happy Summer!

seasonal decorations

It is the time of year when everyone is eager to decorate for the winter holidays. We invite residents to use and enjoy their seasonal decorations, but please keep in mind our decoration guidelines:

  • Please keep your decorations up-to-date and in-season; remove them before they get into disarray.
  • Decorations may not be permanently attached to the building with nails or screws, nor should they be placed in common areas where they may be damaged by lawn or snow removal crews.
  • Follow all fire safety codes: you may not have a real Christmas tree in your apartment.
  • Decorations or furniture must not be placed in such a way that they restrict egress from the building or access to fire extinguishers.
  • Please use only lights and extension cords that are in perfect condition and do not link together more cords than the instructions allow.

Picture Your Pet Day

Willow Creek Crossing Apartments is hosting a “Picture Your Pet Day” for all residents, their friends, and their family members to get their photos taken with their pets by a professional photographer from 4Ever Photography. The pictures will be taken outside of our Clubhouse, weather-permitting on Wednesday, October 19 from 2:30-6:30pm.

A free 4×6 print will be provided to every resident in exchange for a donation to the Fort Wayne Pet Food Pantry. You will have the opportunity to purchase more sizes from the photographer if you choose.

The FW Pet Food Pantry is a local, non-profit organization who aims to provide pet food at no cost to families who cannot afford to feed their dogs and cats.

  • The Pet Pantry is most in need of the following items:
  • Dry and canned food for dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens
  • Treats for dogs and cats
  • Toys for dogs and cats
  • Cat litter

We are encouraging all participants to dress up in costume (including pets) however, feel free to come in regular attire as well.

This is not just for our pet owners! We encourage residents to invite friends and family to come by and get a photo taken. As long as you have a donation in hand, you may get your picture taken and receive a print. If you are not a pet owner, bring your favorite friend or stuffed animal and join us!

If you invite your family & friends, and they plan to bring their own pets, please remember that breed restrictions WILL apply! No exotic animals.

All dogs must be up-to-date on their vaccinations, and leashed on a non-retractable leash.

Hope to see you there!

Who May Use the Pool?

The swimming pools are for the exclusive use and enjoyment of our apartment residents; therefore, guest privileges are limited. ONE guest per adult resident is permitted. Residents aged 14 to 17 may be issued an ID when accompanied to the office by the resident guardian who can verify their age. General Pool Conduct

Please read the signs posted at the pool These are the rules set forth by the Board of Health  including:

  • street clothes are not permitted in the pool
  • diaper-aged children must wear swim diapers
  • diapers may not be changed on the deck

Use of footballs, basketballs, flotation mattresses, or other items that monopolize the pool, disturb other swimmers, or compromise the filtration system are not permitted.

You will receive a full set of pool rules when you come to the office for the new entry code. There is also a set of pool rules included in your resident handbook. Please do NOT give out the combination to other residents and do not let anyone in the pool who does not have a resident ID. If we find the code has been compromised, the combination will be changed and residents will need to return to the office to get the new code.

Officer Tom and Officer Jay will be returning again this year to watch over our pools. The Allen Protection Patrol Service team will be working as well. Please heed instructions from them and leave the pool when it is being closed at the end of the day or if bad weather or maintenance issues occur.

Remember to stop by Willow Creek Crossing Apartments leasing office by Friday, May 22 if you want to use the pool this weekend.
