Back to School time can be stressful for families on limited budgets.  Fortunately, there is help available.  The Salvation Army Tools for School program is designed to provide basic school supplies for children whose parents cannot afford the items necessary for their children to succeed in school.  The Salvation Army Tools for School program helps to compensate for some of these basic expenses by supplying children with book bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, etc for students in grades K – 12.  This program operates on the charity of the community including Willow Creek Crossing Apartments through their membership in the Apartment Association of Fort Wayne which donates needed supplies during the summer.

If you wish to donate school supplies, you can bring them to the Willow Creek Crossing office.

If you need assistance with school supplies for your children, The Salvation Army will be taking applications for Tools for School assistance on the following dates:

Tuesday August 14th and Thursday August 16th

Doors will be open each day from 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm

You will need to have the following information available when you come to the interview:

  • Your photo ID
  • Proof of Income and Expenses
  • Social Security Cards for ALL school age children
  • Birth Certificates for ALL school age children

Eligible families will pick up their items immediately following their interview.

All assistance is based on donations and is not guaranteed.  Doors may close early depending on availability of supplies.

Another Back to School service is the PTA Clothing Bank.  Appropriate clothing, good shoes, and a warm coat make learning easier.

The clothing bank, located in Memorial Baptist Church at 2900 N. Anthony Blvd., serves FWCS students who need clothes because of poverty or a disaster, such as a fire. Students are referred to the clothing back and are allowed to pick out pants, shirts, coats, shoes and personal hygiene products as they are available.

The clothing bank accepts donations throughout the year. Call 484-3985 for more information.
