Spring is a bit early this year. In fact, this is the earliest vernal equinox of our lives (so far)! Leap year “madness” has pushed the first day of spring back to March 20th (remember when it used to be on the 21st?). We’re just glad it’s here! And, of course, that means Spring Break is here, too! If you’re planning to enjoy a relaxing “staycation” in Fort Wayne here are some ideas for fun and fascinating things to enjoy:

Visit Fort Wayne has put together a great list of downtown attractions, deal packages on museum tickets, and dining options  Their list of Free Activities includes:

• Thursday night free entrance to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art
• exploring the historically fascinating, naturally beautiful (and a little bit haunting)
  Lindenwood Cemetery
• free events at the Allen County Public Library

Fort Wayne Trails

Now is a great time to explore the ever-expanding Fort Wayne Trails system, map here. They also list “Trail Friendly Businesses”, so you can plan lunch or a coffee break as you are out exploring. Grab your bike, your dog, or your walking shoes and hit the trails!

Hiking

There are many great hiking spots in and around Fort Wayne. Fox Island and Eagle March are just a short drive from Willow Creek Crossing Apartments. Acres Land Trust has over 75 nature preserves perfect for hiking, bird watching, and exploring! Pack a picnic lunch and make a day of it.

Movies
